This kit contains the fork's guide bushings: the outer bushing, at the top of the fork leg, and the inner bushing, at the bottom of the tube. Their PTFE (Teflon) coating reduces friction; once worn, the bronze shows through, the fork binds and the oil seals wear out faster.

Specifications

Brand: SKF
Manufacturer part number: VKWA-KYB48-A
EAN code: 7316581872046
Contents: 1 inner and 1 outer bushing (for one fork leg)

When to replace it?

Grey coating worn through: the copper or bronze shows on the bushing.
Play in the fork when you rock the bike back and forth with the front brake on.
Fork that binds at the start of its stroke, oil seals that leak again and again.

Check the bushings every time you replace the oil seals or change the fork oil. Replace them as soon as the bronze shows over more than a quarter of their surface.

Fitting tips

Disassemble the fork leg following the manual and separate the outer tube from the inner tube.
Remove the old bushings without scratching their seats, and clean them.
Fit the new bushings with a suitable tool, then install new oil seals.
Reset the fork oil level as per the manual.

Why SKF?

SKF is renowned for its fork seals, among the most durable in motocross according to the American magazine Motocross Action, which notes that the WP forks on KTMs are fitted with them as original equipment. In its Dual Compound range, the brand combines two rubber compounds moulded together: a tough green dust wiper and a softer red sealing lip, both reinforced by a metal insert.
