NISSIN offers this brake pad pin. The brake caliper squeezes the disc between two pads. The pads hang on a pin and, on most off-road bikes, the caliper itself slides on pins to centre itself on the disc.
The benefits:
Nissin, the Japanese brake maker founded in 1953 (now part of Astemo), has produced motorcycle master cylinders since 1971 and disc brakes since 1974; Honda, formerly its largest shareholder, fits Nissin calipers as original equipment on its CR and CRF models.
Replace it when the pin is scored, rusty, grooved by the pads or catches, and ideally with every new set of pads.
Cross-Mania tip: Replace the pin with every set of pads and grease it lightly with brake grease.
Universal part: check the dimensions given before ordering.
