The AP RACING LMP292ORR set of brake pads is designed for HUSQVARNA CR 125, CR 250, TC 610, TE 610, WR 125, WR 240, WR 260, KTM MX 125, MX 250, MX 500 and CAGIVA WMX 125, WMX 250 from 1987 to 1995. Pressed against the disc by the caliper, the pads turn the bike's energy into heat. Their friction material wears a little with every stop, and even faster in muddy conditions.

When to replace it?

• Friction material worn below the minimum thickness in the manual (often 1 to 2 mm), or wear groove gone.
• Metallic grinding noise when braking.
• Lever or pedal going further, brakes with less bite.

Check pad thickness before every ride, especially in muddy conditions. Never wait for metal-to-metal contact: it scores the disc within a few stops.

Fitting tips

1. Push the caliper pistons back while keeping an eye on the brake fluid level in the reservoir, which will rise.
2. Clean the caliper and the pad pin, and replace the pin if it's marked.
3. Fit the pads with their spring or clip, the right way round, then pump the lever or pedal until you get normal travel back.
4. Check the condition of the disc: a disc that's too thin or warped wears out new pads.
5. Bed in the pads with a dozen progressive stops before riding hard.

Why AP RACING?

AP Racing, based in Coventry, is the name given in 1970 to the competition division of Automotive Products, a company founded in London in 1920. In motorcycling, the brand launched the first commercially available racing disc brake as early as 1966, and MV Agusta won the 1973 500 cc world title with its brakes, the first title ever won on disc brakes.

Frequently asked questions

Sintered or organic?
Sintered (metallic) pads last longer and stay effective in mud and water: they're the benchmark for motocross and enduro. Organic pads are gentler on the disc and bite well from cold.

Should both sides be changed?
Always replace the complete set for a given caliper, and check the disc while you're at it.
