NISSIN offers this brake master cylinder. When you squeeze the lever, it pushes a piston in the master cylinder. That piston drives brake fluid down the hose to the caliper, whose pistons clamp the pads against the disc; a reservoir holds a reserve of fluid.
The benefits:
Nissin, the Japanese brake maker founded in 1953 (now part of Astemo), has produced motorcycle master cylinders since 1971 and disc brakes since 1974; Honda, formerly its largest shareholder, fits Nissin calipers as original equipment on its CR and CRF models.
A leak at the lever or reservoir, or a lever that comes back to the grip: the master cylinder or its rebuild kit needs replacing.
Cross-Mania tip: Protect paint and plastics from brake fluid, refill with fresh fluid and bleed until the lever is firm.
Universal part: check the dimensions given before ordering.
