The very flexible trial tyre that squashes onto rocks and roots to grip at very low pressure.
IRC offers this trial tyre. In trial, you climb over rocks, steps and logs at low speed: the tyre has to wrap around the obstacle instead of bouncing off it.
The benefits:
IRC (Inoue Rubber Co.) is a Japanese manufacturer founded in Nagoya in 1926 that has made motorcycle tyres since 1952. Its TR-011 Trial Winner was developed for trial competition, with a soft compound in the centre and a harder one on the shoulders.
Rounded or torn blocks, rubber that is starting to crack, a cut sidewall: it needs replacing. In competition, the rear is changed as soon as it loses its sharp edges; for leisure riding, when grip on rock drops noticeably. A tyre that has hardened over the years loses exactly the grip you expect from a trial tyre.
Cross-Mania tip: Only fit a TL tyre without a tube on a tubeless rim with an airtight valve, and set the pressure cold with a gauge that is accurate at low pressures.
Choose the same size as the original tyre: it is moulded on the sidewall of your current tyre and given in the bike's manual.
