When to replace it?
- Heavy twistgrip or slow throttle return.
- Frayed strands, cut or crushed outer sheath.
- Free play that can't be adjusted correctly.
Replace the cable at the first broken strand, or if the twistgrip no longer snaps back cleanly to the closed position.
Fitting tips
- Note the routing of the old cable before removing it.
- Route the new cable exactly the same way, with no kinks or rubbing points.
- Lubricate the ends with a suitable grease.
- Set the free play as per the manual, then turn the bars to full lock on both sides to check that the revs don't rise.

Many bikes have a pull cable and a return cable: the second one closes the throttle even if the throttle spring weakens. Replace them together.
