MOTION PRO throttle cable for YAMAHA YZ 85 from 2002 to 2018.
On YAMAHA YZ 85 from 2002 to 2018, the MOTION PRO 05-0285 throttle cable fits in place of the original part. Precise throttle control starts with the throttle cable. New and well lubricated, it makes the twistgrip light and the return crisp.
Specifications
- Brand: MOTION PRO
- Manufacturer part number: 05-0285
- Black vinyl-covered housing, like the original
- Engine: 2-stroke
When to replace it?
- Heavy twistgrip or slow throttle return.
- Frayed strands, cut or crushed outer sheath.
- Free play that can't be adjusted correctly.
Replace the cable at the first broken strand, or if the twistgrip no longer snaps back cleanly to the closed position.
Fitting tips
- Note the routing of the old cable before removing it.
- Route the new cable exactly the same way, with no kinks or rubbing points.
- Lubricate the ends with a suitable grease.
- Set the free play as per the manual, then turn the bars to full lock on both sides to check that the revs don't rise.
Why MOTION PRO?

Frequently asked questions
Why two cables?
Many bikes have a pull cable and a return cable: the second one closes the throttle even if the throttle spring weakens. Replace them together.
