Over time and with heat, the intake boot hardens and cracks. Replacing it guarantees a tight seal between the carburettor and the reed valve block, which is essential for consistent carburation.

When to replace it?

• Boot hardened, cracked or distorted.

Fitting tips

3. Tighten the bolts in a criss-cross pattern to the specified torque, then push the carburettor fully into the boot and tighten its clamp.
4. Start the engine and check that it holds a steady idle.
