The BOYESEN BOYRB-12 Rad Valve intake boot is designed for HONDA CR 250, CR 500, KAWASAKI KX 125, KX 250 and SUZUKI RM 250, RMX 250 from 1986 to 2011. This intake boot connects the carburettor to the Boyesen Rad Valve reed valve block on a two-stroke engine. It has to seal perfectly: an air leak at this point leans out the mixture and makes the engine run hot.

When to replace it?

• Boot hardened, cracked or distorted.
• Unstable idle or hanging revs: possible air leak.
• Carburettor moving in the boot even with the clamp tight.

Check the boot every time you remove the carburettor or the reed valve block. Check the model and model years: it must match your Rad Valve reed block.

Fitting tips

1. Remove the carburettor, then the boot to be replaced.
2. Clean the mating surfaces and fit the new boot with a new reed block gasket.
3. Tighten the bolts in a criss-cross pattern to the specified torque, then push the carburettor fully into the boot and tighten its clamp.
4. Start the engine and check that it holds a steady idle.
