HOT CAMS Valve Shims (pack of 5) ref. HCSHIM32

The HOT CAMS HCSHIM32 set of valve shims is a universal part. On motocross four-strokes, the valve clearance is set with calibrated shims that sit on the valve stem, under the bucket. Each thickness gives a clearance: changing the shim brings the clearance back within the manufacturer's tolerances.

When to replace it?

• Valve clearance out of tolerance when checked.
• Hard hot starting: clearance too tight.

Fitting tips

1. Set the engine at top dead centre on the compression stroke, with the marks aligned.
2. Remove the camshaft concerned as described in the manual, then lift the shim out with a magnet.
3. Fit the new shim, number facing the valve, then refit the camshaft, respecting the timing and the cap torque.
4. Turn the engine over by hand and recheck the clearance, then refit with a valve cover gasket in good condition.
