      VERTEX offers this piston ring set for HM CRE 250 F, MOTARD 250 F, HONDA CRF 250, CRF 250 X, SUZUKI RMZ 250 and KAWASAKI KXF 250 2004-2013. Rings are thin steel bands sitting in the piston grooves. They press against the cylinder wall to hold compression and scrape oil.

      Why replace the rings?

      • A cheap fix when piston and cylinder are still within spec.

      Why choose VERTEX?

      Vertex has made its pistons in Italy since 1953 and has supplied KTM’s original pistons since 1996: molybdenum-disulphide coated skirt and Japanese rings. Its four-stroke pistons are forged from 2618 alloy.

      When should you replace the piston rings?

      Harder starting, loss of power, blue smoke, oil consumption or a knock when cold: these are the signs of a tired top end.

      Recommended hours for a top-end rebuild (manufacturer recommendation for the Suzuki RM-Z 250 / 450):

      • Racing: every 12 h (about 6 races).
      • Leisure: no Suzuki figure; Cross-Mania guideline: compression check at around 24 h.
      • Honda CRF R / RX / X: racing: every 15 h (about 6 races).
