ATHENA Steering Bearing Kit for HUSABERG FS 570, FX 450 2010-2018

The ATHENA P400207250001 steering head bearing kit is designed for HUSABERG FS 570, FX 450 from 2010 to 2018. The steering head bearings let the triple clamps turn in the steering head of the frame. When marked or loose, they make the steering notchy and vague, and give play at the front under braking.

When to replace it?

• Notchy steering: it catches in the straight-ahead position in small jerks.
• Play at the front under braking, clunking in the steering head.
• Steering that feels stiff or uneven as you turn the bars.

Check the steering head tightness regularly and replace the bearings as soon as the steering becomes notchy. Always replace the top and bottom bearings together, with their bearing races (cups).

Fitting tips

1. Support the bike with the front wheel off the ground and remove the fork and the lower triple clamp.
2. Drive the old races out of the steering head and the lower bearing off the stem of the clamp.
3. Fit the new parts straight, packed with waterproof grease.
4. Reassemble and adjust the steering head tightness: no play, but no tight spot, then tighten to the manual's torque.
