NGK Laser Iridium plug with a 1.0 mm gap, heat range 9, for KTM Freeride 250 F/350, 250 SX-F 2013-2018, EXC-F 2019-2020 and Husqvarna FE.
Does your KTM Freeride, EXC-F or 250 SX-F, or your Husqvarna FE, call for a plug with a 1.0 mm gap? The NGK Laser Iridium LMAR9AI-10 differs from the LMAR9AI-8 on that point only: its factory gap is 1.0 mm instead of 0.8 mm.
According to our compatibility data, it fits the KTM Freeride 350 from 2012 to 2017 and Freeride 250 F from 2018 and 2019, the KTM 250 SX-F from 2013 to 2018, the KTM 250 and 350 EXC-F from 2019 and 2020, Six Days included, the KTM 450 and 500 EXC-F from 2019, the Husqvarna FE 250 from 2014 to 2019 and the Husqvarna FE 350, 450 and 501 from 2019.
In the part number, R stands for the built-in resistor, 9 for a fairly cold heat range and -10 for the 1.0 mm gap. A wider gap gives a longer spark, but it needs an ignition system designed for it. So the -10 and the -8 are not interchangeable at random: fit the one the manufacturer specifies for your model and year.
NGK, founded in Japan in 1936, combines an iridium centre electrode with a platinum pad welded onto the ground electrode on its Laser Iridium plugs. Both metals wear slowly, so the original 1.0 mm gap holds for a long time, even on a Freeride that spends hours idling through technical sections.
Fitting tip: the gap is set at the factory; do not adjust it, as you could damage the platinum pad. Fit the plug with the engine cold, screw it in by hand until it seats, then tighten to the torque given in the manual.
Good to know: depending on the year, some KTM and Husqvarna models take an LMAR9AI-8 or an LMAR9AI-10. If in doubt, read the part number printed on the plug currently fitted or check the owner's manual. The models are also listed in the "Compatible vehicles" tab.
