A lightweight protective plate fitted under the frame to protect the underside of the engine in motocross.
AXP offers this protective sole for HUSQVARNA FC 450 2016-2022. In motocross, the underside of the bike takes stones and mud thrown up by the front wheel and rubs against edges and obstacles.
Why fit a motocross skid plate?
The benefits:
- The bottom of the frame and the engine case are protected from stones and rubbing.
- Lighter than an enduro skid plate: it does not weigh the bike down in motocross.
- Thick plastic absorbs knocks and is quieter than a metal plate.
When should you replace this part?
A skid plate that is cracked, badly worn by rubbing or with loose mountings: time to replace it.
