PROX Clutch Steel Plate Kit for YAMAHA YFZ BANSHEE 350 1987-2006

On YAMAHA YFZ BANSHEE 350 from 1987 to 2006, the PROX 16.S23027 clutch steel plate kit fits in place of the original part. The steel plates, made of steel or aluminium depending on the model, are the surface the friction plates grip against. Warped or glazed, they stop the clutch from working properly, even with new linings.

When to replace it?

• Clutch that drags or judders, neutral hard to find with the engine hot.
• Plates blued, glazed or marked at the tabs.
• Warpage out of tolerance, measured with a feeler gauge on a surface plate (or a sheet of glass).

Every time you replace the friction plates, if the steel plates are warped or blued, and after a bad bout of clutch slip.

Fitting tips

1. Oil the plates before fitting them.
2. Alternate friction plates and steel plates in the original order, without leaving one out.
3. Check the clutch springs and tighten to the manufacturer's torque.
4. Close up with a new clutch cover gasket and fresh gearbox oil.

If they're close to the minimum thickness, yes: new friction plates and new steel plates give you a clutch that's as good as new.
