      WOSSNER offers this piston ring set for SUZUKI RM 80, TS 80 ER, TS 80 X and YAMAHA YTM 200, YZ 80 1978-2000. Rings are thin steel bands sitting in the piston grooves. They press against the cylinder wall to hold compression and scrape oil.

      Why replace the rings?

      • Regain compression and power.
      • Reduce oil consumption and smoke.
      • A cheap fix when piston and cylinder are still within spec.

      Wössner has forged its own pistons since 1994: Molykote-coated skirt to reduce friction and ease running-in, kit supplied complete with rings, pin and clips.

      When should you replace the piston rings?

      Harder starting, loss of power, blue smoke, oil consumption or a knock when cold: these are the signs of a tired top end.

      Recommended hours for a top-end rebuild (manufacturer recommendation for the Suzuki RM 80 / RM 85):

      • Racing: every 18 h (about 9 races).
      • Leisure: no Suzuki figure; Cross-Mania guideline: compression check at around 36 h.
