VERTEX offers this piston ring set for GAS GAS EC 300, WILD HP 300, KTM EXC 300, BETA RR 300, XTRAINER 300 and HUSQVARNA TE 300, WR 300 2001-2020. Rings are thin steel bands sitting in the piston grooves. They press against the cylinder wall to hold compression and scrape oil.

Why replace the rings?

The benefits:

• Regain compression and power.
• Reduce oil consumption and smoke.
• A cheap fix when piston and cylinder are still within spec.

Why choose VERTEX?

Vertex has made its pistons in Italy since 1953 and has supplied KTM’s original pistons since 1996: molybdenum-disulphide coated skirt and Japanese rings. Its two-stroke pistons are cast from an 18 % silicon alloy.

When should you replace the piston rings?

Harder starting, loss of power, blue smoke, oil consumption or a knock when cold: these are the signs of a tired top end.

Recommended hours for a top-end rebuild (manufacturer recommendation for the Beta RR 250 / 300 two-stroke):

• Normal use: every 60 h.
• Racing: no Beta figure; Cross-Mania guideline: compression check at around 30 h.
• KTM EXC / XC-W, Husqvarna TE 250/300 2017-2023: racing: every 40 h.
