The protective plate fitted under the engine, shielding it from rocks, tree stumps and ledges.
AXP offers this skid plate for KTM SX-F 450 HERLINGS, SXF 450, XCF 450 2019-2022. The skid plate bolts to the frame, under the engine. In enduro, the underside of the bike often hits rocks, logs and ledges: without protection, the engine case can crack and leak oil.
Why fit a skid plate?
The benefits:
- The engine case is protected from rocks and stumps.
- The bike slides over logs and ledges instead of getting hung up.
- Depending on the model, it also protects the suspension linkage and the bottom of the frame.
When should you replace the skid plate on your KTM SXF 450?
A skid plate that is cracked, badly gouged or with loose mountings no longer protects: replace it.
