INNTECK suspension shims 11.2 x 25 mm - pack of 10

The INNTECK 11.2 x 25 mm SK-11225010 set of suspension shims is a universal part. Shims are thin steel washers stacked on the fork or shock piston. As they flex under oil pressure, they meter the oil flow: their diameter, their thickness and their order in the stack set the compression and rebound damping.

When do you need them?

• Fork or shock rebuild: a bent, marked or broken shim is replaced like for like.
• Revalving to suit your weight, your level or your terrain.
• Clickers at the end of their range: the adjusters can no longer give you the behaviour you want.

Three dimensions define a shim: the hole diameter (that of the shaft running through the stack), the outer diameter and the thickness. Measure the diameter with a caliper and the thickness with a micrometer: a few hundredths of a millimetre already change the damping.

Fitting tips

1. Strip the cartridge or piston according to the manual and slide the stack, in order, onto a clean rod.
2. Measure every shim and write down the complete stack before replacing anything.
3. Replace like for like (or follow your new stack) with clean, burr-free shims, then tighten the shaft nut to the torque in the manual.
4. Reassemble with fresh suspension oil and bleed out all the air carefully.
