MX-TECH Low-Friction Shock Piston Ring Kit for HONDA CRF 450 and KAWASAKI KXF 450 2013-2014

On HONDA CRF 450 and KAWASAKI KXF 450 from 2013 to 2014, the MX-TECH PB02KYPB-1004 shock piston ring kit fits in place of the original part. The shock piston ring (piston band) seals between the piston and the body: the oil has to pass through the valves, not around the piston. This kit replaces the original ring with a low-friction ring fitted over an O-ring.

When to replace it?

• Piston ring worn or scored at service.
• Damping that fades as the shock heats up.
• Shock service or tuning.

Check the make and the piston diameter of your shock (in the name). This job is done with the shock taken apart and drained of nitrogen: it is meant for workshops and properly equipped mechanics.

Fitting tips

1. Release the nitrogen and take the shock apart following the manual.
2. Remove the old ring from the piston without scratching the groove.
3. Fit the O-ring and then the ring, refit the piston and bleed the shock before recharging the nitrogen.
