The gasket that seals the ignition cover on the left side of the engine.
ATHENA offers this ignition cover gasket for HONDA XL 500 1979-1982. The ignition cover protects the alternator (stator and flywheel). On many 4-strokes it runs in oil; on 2-strokes it must stay dry and clean.
Why replace this gasket every time it is removed?
The benefits:
- A new gasket guarantees a perfectly sealed joint.
- Material designed to withstand heat, oil and coolant.
- An inexpensive part that saves doing the job twice.
Why choose ATHENA?
Athena, original-equipment supplier to KTM and Ducati from Italy, laser-cuts its gaskets from materials designed for heat, oil and coolant.
When should you replace the gasket on your HONDA XL 500?
Oil seeping around the cover or a leak after reassembly show it needs replacing: a crushed gasket never seals properly again.
