ATHENA titanium Exhaust Valve for KTM SX 450, SXF 450, SXF 505, XCF 450, XCF 505 2007-2012

ATHENA offers this exhaust valve for KTM SX 450, SXF 450, SXF 505, XCF 450, XCF 505 2007-2012. A four-stroke engine breathes through its valves. The exhaust valves open to let the burnt gases out to the pipe, then close again.

Titanium or steel valve?

The material is shown in the product name.

• Titanium: about 40% lighter than steel, it allows high revs without valve float; it costs more and its coating wears faster if the seats and guides are tired.
• Steel or stainless: heavier, but very wear-resistant and cheaper; as a replacement for titanium it lasts longer, with springs suited to its weight.
• Tip: replace valves as a set, have the seats checked and fit new valve stem seals.

Why choose ATHENA?

Athena, founded in 1973 by Giovanni Mancassola near Vicenza and based in Alonte (Italy), designs gaskets, pistons and cylinder kits; it supplies original equipment to manufacturers such as KTM, Ducati, Fantic and Triumph.

When should you replace the valves on your KTM SXF 450?

Hard hot starting, valve clearance that keeps closing up or a noisy timing chain: the valve train is wearing.
