The universal joint is the cross-shaped joint in the quad’s propeller shaft: it lets the shaft turn even when it runs at an angle.

ALL BALLS offers this universal joint for POLARIS RANGER 500, RANGER 570 CREW EPS, SCRAMBLER 500, SPORTSMAN 500, SPORTSMAN 500 HO and YAMAHA XT 600 1990-2025. The universal joint is the cross-shaped joint linking two parts of the propeller shaft on a shaft-drive quad, between the gearbox and the axle.

Why replace the universal joint?

The benefits:

Get rid of driveline clunks and vibration.
Repair the propeller shaft without replacing the whole thing.
Act before the play wears the shaft’s bearing bores oval.

Why choose ALL BALLS?

Complete All Balls kits: low-friction bearings and steel-spring nitrile seals, everything you need in one box.

When should you replace this part?

A clunk when you open or close the throttle, play when turning the shaft by hand or a notchy feel: the universal joint is worn.

Specifications and fitting tips

Cross-Mania tip: Mark the position of the yokes before dismantling so the shaft goes back in phase, fit new circlips and grease through the nipple, if there is one, until grease appears at all four caps.
