ATHENA Clutch Steel Plate Kit for HONDA CR 80, CR 85 1984-2007

The ATHENA P40240027 clutch steel plate kit is designed for HONDA CR 80, CR 85 from 1984 to 2007. In the clutch, the steel plates alternate with the friction plates. When the clutch overheats, they turn blue and warp: the clutch drags, judders or no longer disengages cleanly.

When to replace it?

• Clutch that drags or judders, neutral hard to find with the engine hot.
• Plates blued, glazed or marked at the tabs.
• Warpage out of tolerance, measured with a feeler gauge on a surface plate (or a sheet of glass).

Every time you replace the friction plates, if the steel plates are warped or blued, and after a bad bout of clutch slip.

Fitting tips

1. Oil the plates before fitting them.
2. Alternate friction plates and steel plates in the original order, without leaving one out.
3. Check the clutch springs and tighten to the manufacturer's torque.
4. Close up with a new clutch cover gasket and fresh gearbox oil.
