The small needle bearing that lets the piston pin turn in the connecting rod.
ATHENA offers this needle bearing for KTM EXC 500, SX 500 1986-1989. Fitted in the small end of the connecting rod, it carries the piston pin and works on every stroke of the piston, at very high revs.
Why replace it?
The benefits:
- To be replaced every time the piston is.
- Remove small-end play.
Why choose ATHENA?
Athena, founded in 1973 by Giovanni Mancassola near Vicenza and based in Alonte (Italy), designs gaskets, pistons and cylinder kits; it supplies original equipment to manufacturers such as KTM, Ducati, Fantic and Triumph.
When should you replace it?
Every time you change the piston: a worn needle bearing develops play, runs hot and can break, causing major engine damage. Also replace it if the needles are marked or blued, or if it turns with tight spots.
