Oil seals stop oil leaking around the shafts that come out of the engine (crank, shifter, pump…).
ATHENA offers this engine oil seal kit for KTM GS 250, MX 250 1980-1981. An oil seal (lip seal) is a rubber ring that seals around a rotating shaft. They are found on the crankshaft, gear shifter, water pump and output shaft.
Why replace the oil seals?
The benefits:
- Stop oil leaks around the shafts.
- On a 2-stroke, keep the crankcase sealed, which the engine needs to run properly.
- All the engine’s oil seals in one part number for a rebuild.
Why choose ATHENA?
Athena, founded in 1973 by Giovanni Mancassola near Vicenza and based in Alonte (Italy), designs gaskets, pistons and cylinder kits; it supplies original equipment to manufacturers such as KTM, Ducati, Fantic and Triumph.
When should you replace the oil seals on your KTM GS 250?
Seepage around the shaft, a dropping oil level or, on a two-stroke, an idle that creeps up on its own are warning signs. The seal is also replaced every time the cases are split.
