ATHENA Engine Oil Seal Kit for APRILIA RXV 450, RXV 550 2006-2011

The ATHENA P400010400027 engine oil seal kit is designed for APRILIA RXV 450, RXV 550 from 2006 to 2011. Oil seals (or lip seals) seal around the shafts that come out of the engine: crankshaft, countershaft, gear shift shaft, kick-start or water pump. On a two-stroke, the crankshaft seals also keep the bottom end airtight, which it needs in order to run.

When to replace it?

• Oil around the countershaft sprocket, the gear shift shaft or the kick-start.
• Lip hardened or split, or shaft marked where the seal runs.

Every time the crankcases are split, and as soon as a leak appears.

Fitting tips

1. Drive out the old seal without scratching its housing.
2. Lightly grease the lip and the housing.
3. Press the seal in perfectly square with a tube or socket of the same diameter, lip facing the oil side.
4. Protect the lip from the splines or keyways as you slide the shaft through (adhesive tape).
