The RENTHAL R1 415 - 112 maillons C445 drive chain is designed for KTM SX 50, HUSQVARNA TC 50 and GAS GAS MC 50 from 2009 to 2023. The chain transmits power from the front sprocket to the rear sprocket. When to replace it?

• Chain that stretches quickly: you have to adjust it more and more often.
• Tight spots or stiff links when you turn it.
• Chain that lifts away from the rear sprocket when you pull it rearwards.

Replace the chain when the adjusters reach the end of their travel or as soon as it has tight spots, and always together with the front and rear sprockets if they're worn.

Fitting tips

1. Check the pitch (415, 420, 428, 520…) and the number of links of your original chain.
2. Shorten the chain if needed with a chain breaker, cutting at the end opposite the master link.
3. Fit the master link: the clip goes on with its open end facing away from the direction of rotation; a rivet-type link is riveted with the proper tool.
4. Set the tension as per the manual, with the wheel aligned, then lube with a chain lube.
5. Recheck the tension after the first ride: a new chain beds in a little.

Frequently asked questions

Sealed or non-sealed chain?
An O-ring or X-ring chain keeps its grease inside and lasts longer. A non-sealed chain has less friction and is still popular in motocross, but needs lubing more often.

Should the sprockets be changed?
If they're worn, yes: a new chain running on a worn front sprocket and rear sprocket gets damaged very quickly.
