The D.I.D 415ERZ-140 drive chain. Between the engine and the rear wheel, the chain takes every acceleration. A tired chain stretches, wears the sprockets and ends up jumping off or snapping: it's a major wear part.
Replace the chain when the adjusters reach the end of their travel or as soon as it has tight spots, and always together with the front and rear sprockets if they're worn.
D.I.D was founded in Japan in May 1933 and makes its chains and rims in Kaga, in Ishikawa Prefecture. The brand describes itself as the leading original-equipment supplier to Japanese and European manufacturers, and it is the official supplier of the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team.
Sealed or non-sealed chain?
An O-ring or X-ring chain keeps its grease inside and lasts longer. A non-sealed chain has less friction and is still popular in motocross, but needs lubing more often.
Should the sprockets be changed?
If they're worn, yes: a new chain running on a worn front sprocket and rear sprocket gets damaged very quickly.
