MOTION PRO steering head tool

MOTION PRO offers this steering head tool. The fork turns in the frame on two steering head bearings, held in press-fitted cups. With mud, pressure-washer water and impacts, they eventually wear and the steering becomes stiff or notchy.

Why a steering head tool?

The benefits:

• Driver sized to the cup: it pushes on the whole outer race, never on the balls or rollers.
• Fitting with a threaded rod rather than a hammer: the cup goes in straight and its seat in the frame does not go oval.
• Castellated steering stem socket: the steering nut is tightened to the specified torque, without a screwdriver or chisel that damages it.

Why choose MOTION PRO?

Motion Pro was founded in California in 1984 by Chris Carter, a former Yamaha off-road test rider and ISDT gold medallist; having started out with control cables, the company now holds more than 30 patents.

When should you replace this tool?

Chipped puller edges, a deformed driver, a bent threaded rod or one with a damaged thread, rounded socket teeth: replace the tool or the relevant part, it could mark the frame.
