BMC offers this air filter for CAN-AM DS 650, DS 650 BAJA, DS 650 X and HONDA TRX 450 R SPORTRAX ELECTRIC START 2WD, TRX 450 R SPORTRAX KICK START 2WD 2000-2008. The engine draws in huge amounts of air. Sitting in the airbox, the filter catches dust, sand and mud before they reach the carburettor or injection, and then the cylinder.
Why a foam air filter?
The foam traps dust throughout its thickness thanks to the special oil it is soaked in, while letting plenty of air through.
- Excellent airflow for the engine, even as the filter starts to load up.
- Washable and reusable many times: far cheaper than a disposable filter.
- Limit: it must be cleaned and oiled regularly, after every dusty ride; badly oiled or damaged, it lets dust through – the main cause of engine wear.
When should you replace the air filter?
Replace the filter as soon as the foam is torn, hardened or coming away from its frame: dust that gets through wears the piston and cylinder in a few hours.
