The INNTECK avant 21 pouces 50-0549 spoke set is designed for SHERCO SE 125, SE 250, SE 300, SEF 250, SEF 300, SEF 450, SEF 500, SER 250, SER 300 from 2017 to 2027. A spoked wheel holds together through the tension of every single spoke. With tired or bent spokes, or seized nipples, the wheel can no longer be trued properly: a new set brings the wheel back into line and back to the right tension.

When to replace it?

• Spokes bent by an impact or a rock, broken spoke.
• Seized or rusty spoke nipples that won't turn any more.
• Rim out of true, or radial run-out that keeps coming back despite adjustment.

Check spoke tension after the first few rides on a new wheel, then regularly: a loose spoke sounds lower-pitched than its neighbours when you tap it with a wrench. Replace the complete set if several spokes are damaged or the nipples are seized.

Fitting tips

1. Photograph the lacing on each side before taking anything apart, or replace the spokes one at a time to keep the crossing pattern.
2. Fit each spoke in its hub hole, head seated flat, and screw the nipples on by hand.
3. Tension gradually, half a turn at a time in a crisscross pattern, with a suitable spoke wrench, checking lateral and radial run-out with a dial indicator or a truing pointer.
4. No spoke must stick out of its nipple on the inner tube side: fit a new rim strip before refitting the tyre.
5. Check and re-tension the spokes after the first ride, then regularly.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to strip everything to change one spoke?
No, a single spoke can be changed by removing the tyre. But if several spokes are bent or seized, a complete set saves you truing a wheel made of parts of different ages.

What tension should I use?
The one in your bike's manual, using a spoke torque wrench. Failing that, build up the tension little by little and evenly, checking the rim at every pass.
